Sunrise Telecom recently announced the launch of the CM2000E cable modem network analyzer. The CM2000E is said to be the only device that can test both 6 and 8 Megahertz Intermediate Frequency (MHz IF) signals for comprehensive Data over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS), and digital video, as well as analog channel analysis.

The CM2000E has been designed with the intention to evaluate, test and troubleshoot the network performance of DOCSIS and Euro DOCSIS 2.0. Such troubleshooting can be done by analyzing analog and digital video, high speed data (HSD) cable modems and Voice over IP (VoIP) traffic on the network.

By combining its capability to test both 6 and 8 MHz IF signals with an Internet Explorer Web browser, which was earlier possible only on an adjunct laptop, the CM2000E by Sunrise Telecom turns out to be a much more cost effective cable modem network analyzer as it does not have any requirement for an external personal computer (PC).

With this feature, the CM2000E gives recognition to Sunrise Telecom as a provider of handheld cable modem network analyzers that have been developed to speedup the deployment of next-generation networks (NGN).

"By simplifying the test process, the CM2000E ensures that essential tests will be completed with accurate results, improving the quality and reliability of high-speed data, VoIP telephony, digital and analog video services," Moukadam added.

The CM2000E has been developed in order to meet the requirements of Cable TV operators and has additional features like verification and troubleshooting capabilities along with automated test suites and a full Video Graphics Array (VGA) color touch screen which not only enhance quality of service (QoS) but also allow for quicker installations and shorter repair times.

As it is capable of providing comprehensive testing capabilities with analog, digital, cable modem, VoIP and Ethernet testing capabilities, the CM2000E drastically cuts down the quantity of tools that are required by a technician for certifying, testing and trouble-shooting the network. Starting with basic instruments, it has under its umbrella a huge array of applications that users can upgrade to in correspondence with their individual needs and responsibilities.
